Ok I admit that the idea of Twitter used to truly go right over this Lemonade Mama's head. Why in the world - all of the "140-word-posts" would even matter - was way beyond me. But then, I forced myself one day, to sit on Twitter. I mean, I actually forced myself to just hang out and watch it. Words flew by. Small sentences flung through the air in mere seconds. I still recall the moment when a particularly humorous Tweeter spit out,
"I think my cat is a spy with a camera in his rear-end! Why else would he keep turning his butt toward me?"
I still laugh out loud at that. (And I cleaned it up a bit for ya'll...thank me later.)
No, Twitter isn't merely there to share theories on your cats rear-end or even about couponing to the max, for that matter. What I found was a network of people waiting to be friends. A place where people are willing to share what they know, what they are in-love with at the moment and are thinking about at any given time.
I don't know, somewhere between the cat's rear-end story and making a new friend who knows as much about the guilty pleasure called "Real Housewives of New York" (I said it was a guilty pleasure)... it started making some sense. It was like hanging out with a bunch of fun friends at a coffee shop down the street. Only there was no fresh faced barista to make me the latte (had to make it myself - so I made a Vanilla Cappucinno and YES I do have a coupon for that!) ...and I had to type that I was Laughing Out Loud...to let them know they were very entertaining.
Surprisingly enough, when my local internet provider was down one evening - I ran for my smart phone and pulled up Twitter. Much to my hearts relief, remarkable Tweeters were there for the rescue...telling me and the world that indeed the "Internet" was down in the area and I could make a simple adjustment to get it back up and running. Well hello...Twitter help was on its way! And it worked. I was up and running within a half hour. :)
Facebook on the other hand, that wasn't confusing in the least. I dove in. Liked the water just fine. I'd even say... It's about as dreamy as can be for a Lemonade Social geek like myself. I can type a thought, share a deal, say hi to family and comment on photos from friends in Japan...California and across the plains...all within 3 minutes give or take a few. I adore Facebook. Honestly.
If you're not following "The Lemonade Connection" on Facebook or Twitter - stop by and add us! Say hi...I'll be the Lemonade Mama with the hot coffee drink in one hand and the laptop in the other. Just say hi! We'll go from there.
